A Custom Forged Setup for an Iconic Lamborghini

Few cars have the presence of a Lamborghini Murciélago. From its unmistakable proportions to its naturally aspirated V12, it’s a supercar that needs little introduction.

For automotive creator JackUltraMotive, the goal was to develop a custom wheel setup that complemented the Murciélago’s distinctive design while introducing a more personalized appearance.

The result is a set of DR Forged DR01-M two-piece forged wheels, featuring Matte Slate Grey spokes paired with Brushed Clear barrels. The combination brings together a subdued, modern center finish with the natural metallic character of brushed aluminum.

Rather than overpowering the car’s original styling, the DR01-M adds a distinctive custom touch while preserving the Murciélago’s unmistakable character.

DR01-M: Two-Piece Forged Construction

The DR01-M combines a distinctive spoke design with the flexibility of two-piece forged construction.

Unlike a traditional one-piece wheel, the modular configuration allows the center and barrel to feature different finishes, creating greater opportunities for personalization.

For this Murciélago, the two-tone configuration was selected to highlight the wheel’s design while complementing the Lamborghini’s overall appearance.

The Matte Slate Grey spokes provide a darker, understated contrast, while the Brushed Clear barrels introduce a brighter metallic finish that draws attention to the wheel’s outer profile.

Matte Slate Grey Spokes & Brushed Clear Barrels

One of the defining details of this build is its carefully selected finish combination.

Matte Slate Grey gives the DR01-M spokes a refined, low-sheen appearance. Its neutral grey tone emphasizes the wheel’s shape and spoke geometry without relying on a glossy surface.

In contrast, the Brushed Clear barrels showcase the natural texture of brushed aluminum beneath a protective clear finish. The subtle metallic grain catches the light differently from the matte spokes, adding depth and separation between the two components.

Together, the finishes create a balanced two-tone appearance that feels both modern and timeless.

Engineering Around the Murciélago

Creating a custom wheel setup for a Lamborghini Murciélago involves more than selecting the right diameter, width, and offset.

The vehicle’s brake system, suspension geometry, and available inner clearance all influence how a wheel must be designed.

During development of this DR01-M setup, front brake clearance presented an important engineering consideration. The initial stepped barrel configuration limited the available inner clearance, requiring a revised front barrel design.

By removing the stepped lip from the front configuration, the design could accommodate the necessary brake clearance while maintaining the intended DR01-M appearance.

This is one of the advantages of application-specific forged wheel engineering: individual components can be refined around the requirements of the vehicle rather than relying on a universal configuration.

A Wheel Design That Complements the Car

The Murciélago is defined by sharp lines, wide proportions, and an unmistakable silhouette. Choosing the right wheel design means finding a balance between enhancing its appearance and respecting the original styling.

The DR01-M’s spoke geometry and contrasting finishes introduce a more contemporary look while retaining the visual presence expected of a V12 Lamborghini.

The Brushed Clear barrels add brightness around the outer edge of the wheel, while the Matte Slate Grey spokes create a darker center that draws attention to the overall design.

The finished combination gives JackUltraMotive’s Murciélago a distinctive identity without losing the character that makes the car special.
